Paul driving forward with Aaron Logistics!
It’s a double celebration for Paul Williams this month – he celebrates his 50th birthday and takes on the role of general manager for Aaron Logistics at the firm’s new base at Bicester.
It is part of a major expansion for the firm which is based at Overton-on-Dee near Wrexham and is one of the leading logistics companies in the region - recently securing the title of Pall-Ex’s highest KPI Performer of the Year – Category C.
As a member of the palletised freight network, Pall-Ex, Aaron Logistics provides cost effective pallet distribution, dedicated transport, flexible storage and warehouse solutions, packaging and sales, for organisations based in North Wales, North Shropshire and Cheshire.
And now the firm has taken control of a large depot in Arkwright Road, Bicester – and Paul is looking forward to running the operation for the firm.
He said: “I’m 50 at the end of the month and am looking forward to the new challenge – they do say life begins at 50 these days, don’t they?”
He has been working for Aaron Logistics for 13 months, although he has known managing director Lee Gorton for 28 years.
He said: “I’m still going to be doing a bit of driving, but also running the office and looking after the lads based here and make sure everything runs smoothly.
“We have six wagons and an articulated lorry based in Bicester and nine staff working here including myself. It’s going to be a challenge but I’m up for it!”
Before he joined Aaron Logistics he spent two years as an office manager in a job based in Oswestry so is looking forward to putting his management skills to the test.
The new depot covers the Reading/Banbury/Oxford and Witney areas and is based close to the M40 providing excellent transport links to the rest of the country via the motorway network.
Paul adds: “It’s a very busy depot. At Overton-on-Dee we handle around 60-80 pallets a day, but at Bicester that figure is up to 150-200 pallets a day, a significant increase.
“We can handle absolutely anything as you can’t always put your finger on what you’ll be carrying next. One minute you are dealing with manhole covers and the next it could be something like computers or solar panels.
“We also offer very good storage facilities and services at Bicester for those that require it.”
Commenting on the appointment, managing director, Lee Gorton, said: “This is a great appointment for Aaron Logistics as we continue with our planned growth strategy.
"Our expansion into Oxfordshire, a highly competitive market, and establishing ourselves will be a challenge, but with Paul's leadership and our experience and success in other areas of the UK, we have already got off to a great start."
